Background of the project:
The objective of the Urban Management of Internal Migration due to Climate Change (UMIMCC) project is to improve the living conditions of climate migrants in selected settlements in Rajshahi through demand-oriented measures. In order to make migration a successful adaptation strategy for both climate migrants and the host cities, this includes an improvement of the basic urban infrastructure in the settlements, the generation of short- and long-term income opportunities, as well as the identification of successful strategies to utilize the economic potential of climate migrants for the economic development of the host city. In Bangladesh, the initiative will particularly focus on supporting Rajshahi, one of the major host regions with an exceptionally high percentage of migrants (approximately 70% of slum dwellers), and on the economic and social integration of climate migrants.

Overall Objective: The living conditions of climate migrants in selected settlements in RCC are improved through the implementation of demand oriented measures.
Specific Objectives: improved access to basic water, sanitation and communication infrastructures of the slum dwellers including climate migrants in selected slums of Rajshahi city.
Outputs:
- Slum dwellers in selected slums of Rajshahi city are used hygienic toilets regularly;
- Slum dwellers in selected slums of Rajshahi city have access to safe drinking water;
- Slum dwellers in selected slums of Rajshahi city have good roads inside the slums for their safe movement;
- Drainage facilities of the selected slums are improved;
- Women of the selected slums take bath comfortably with privacy;
- 700 of inhabitants, there of 30% women have participated in labor-intensive works for building or improving climate resilient basic infrastructure in 11 climate migrant hotspots in RCC.
