Project Name: Improving WASH for Rohingya Refugee Host Communities (IWRRHC)

Project Introduction:
This project will address water and sanitation challenges faced by communities that neighbor the refugee camps. Activities will include the installation of 10 deep tube wells for safe water supply, installing 10 bathing facilities, the construction 20 new toilets for particularly poor households, and the rehabilitation of 50 toilets that have fallen into disrepair.

Specific Objectives:

  • Improved access to sustainably managed clean water and sanitation
  • Improved hygiene practice among targeted beneficiaries

Outputs:

  • 1,248 people have access to sanitary latrines
  • 500 people have access to clean drinking water
  • 10 hardware management committees functioning correctly
  • 7,002 beneficiaries have the means and the knowledge to improve hygiene and MHM practice in their household
  • 7,002 beneficiaries have the means and the knowledge to improve water safety practices from the source to consumption

Project Components: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (Hardware & Software)

Major Activities:

  • Install 10 deep tube wells
  • Install 20 new toilets (Twin Offset Pit)
  • Install 10 bathing facilities
  • Repair 50 toilets
  • Train 10 hardware management committees
  • Organize 1 project launch workshop
  • Conduct 45 awareness sessions on water safety
  • Conduct 45 awareness sessions on sanitation and COVID-19 prevention
  • Conduct 45 awareness sessions on MHM for adolescent girls and women
  • Declare one village as open defecation free
