DAM receives two awards for contributing in drug prevention & treatment

Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) has received two awards for its outstanding contribution in drug prevention & treatment. The awards were handed over today (30 July) at a ceremony held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Auditorium on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Honorable Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP was present as Chief Guest and handed over the awards to the Iqbal Masud, Director, Heath & WASH Sector for drug prevention program and Farjana Ferdous Pinky, Center Manager, Ahsania Mission Female Drug Treatment & Rehabilitation Center of DAM for drug treatment for female.

Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) has selected Dhaka Ahsania Mission for these awards considering the evidence-based prevention program and treatment and rehabilitation services. The female center of DAM has specialists, psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors, counselors, case managers, professional staffs, modern and evidence-based treatment approach and other facilities for the clients.

Secretary of Security Services Division of Ministry of Home Affairs Md. Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury was present as Special Guest. Directorate General (DG), Department of Narcotics Control Md. Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan chaired the program.

It is mentionable that Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been implementing drug prevention activities since 1990 and providing evidence-based drug treatment service to male drug users since 2004 and female drug users since 2014. At present, Dhaka Ahsania Mission is operating four drug treatment and rehabilitation centers in Gazipur, Munshiganj and Jessore for male drug users and Dhaka for female drug users.
