Project Name: Building Resilient Urban Communities (BRUC)
Promoting Urban Climate Change Resilience in Selected Asian Cities: Development of Pilot Activities and Project Development Support” (BRUC) Project.
Project Introduction: The Project attempts to contribute to a climate resilient urban future through community led resilience building initiatives that are integrated in institutional planning systems and processes. This is done by taking an urban systems approach that supports climate change integration into city planning, project development and implementation, knowledge sharing and capacity building. In particular, it aims to help ensure that poor urban dwellers in the cities, especially vulnerable groups, are able to realize their rights and improve their well-being despite the impact of different shocks and stressors including climate change. The community and concerned stakeholders have examined the community’s key hazards, vulnerabilities, and capacities in addressing their risks; and facilitate a resilience planning process where the local stakeholders identify a pilot community-led project for implementation through “The Community Assessment and Resilience Planning (CARP) workshop”. A feasibility study has been facilitating on “Climate Resilient Park and Training Academy at ward no. 09, Faridpur Municipality” by external consulting firm named “ENVIROSHED”. The feasibility study analyzed the technical, environmental, social, financial and economic and sustainability of the proposed community led project (CLP). In this connection, it was required to share the findings of the study with concerned stakeholders and finalize the CLP with prior recommendation. The co-creation workshop has been organized to finalize the CLP and to start the implementation process.
