Bangladesh is a country with huge potential human resources with the growth of economic conditions and investment opportunities, the needs for skilled human resources are increasing. There are also ample opportunities for overseas employment of skilled human resources. But the present scenario is, a large portion of population in the country do not have appropriate skills and education to cats the needs of the business and industries. Consequently, neither they cannot make a productive contribution to GDP nor can change their own socio-economic conditions.
Having recognized these needs and aligned with the National Skills Development Policy 2011 and the TVET Reform initiatives, Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) as one of the leading experienced NGO has come forward with need based skill development training interventions as a priority programme both in urban and rural areas. Since 1985 DAM has been offering variety of livelihood skills development training courses through vocational training institutes. The skills needs of unskilled, unemployed, underemployed and retrenched laborers are being addressed through these skills training along with employment support services.
TVET programmes compatible with the national standard (NTVQF) will expand through triple mode of delivery (institute based, community based and work place based) to reach the young groups living in poverty and remote locations. More closely functional relations will be developed with the employers/industries and the government TVET offices (BTEB, DTE, NSDA) to update courses, improve delivery modes, accreditation, employment support services and professional development to TVET personnel.
TVET activities are fully aligned with GOB’s Vision 2021 as well as Five Year Plans and also relevant to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 4 and 8)
