Report on the Virtual Event Celebrating ‘World Youth Skills Day 2021’

In celebrating the World Youth Skills Day 2021,Adolescent &Youth Development (AYD) project under the Education Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission with the technical and financial assistance from Educo Bangladesh organized avirtual event which was also livestreamed on the official Facebook page on July 15, 2021. The virtual event was conducted around the theme of this year’s World Youth Skills Day which is ‘Reimagining Youth Skills Post-Pandemic’ aiming to celebrate the resilience and creativity of youth throughout the COVID-19 crisis. The event created opportunities formore than 50 community level adolescents and youth coming from various communities of Dhaka and Narayangonj districts to interact, share their thoughts, ask questions and learn from some key govt. and non-govt. stakeholders, youth skill development specialists, and aspiring youth speakers. The event was adorned by the presence of Mr. Biraj Chandra Sarkerwho is the Deputy Director, Department of Youth Development, Ministry of Youth and Sports as the chief guest. As distinguished panelist Mr. K.M. Shahiduzzaman who is the Social Service Officer, Social Service Department; Mr. Md. Shahidul Islam, Chief of Education & TVET, Dhaka Ahsania Mission;and MS. Sadia Karim, Project Coordinator, Adolescents and Youth Development and Gender Mainstreaming, Educo Bangladesh attended the event.

The event was started with a warm welcome by the host, MS. Saima Akter Dipty who is the Technical Officer of AYD Project. Program Coordinator of AYD Project, Mr. MD. Shanawaz narrated the event objectives and the schedule with the participants. Afterwards, 2 of the youth representatives from AYD Project shared their life stories at the ‘Motivation of Life’ part of the event, while 4 youth role models and youth icons shared their success stories at the ‘Stories of Change’ segment of the event. The event was proceeded through an interactive ‘Panel Discussion’ with the distinguished panel members and the youth followed by an open question-answer session. Thechief guest of the program, Mr. Biraj Chandra Sarkergave his valuable speech and closing remarks at the end. Chief guest praised the youthfor their effort and resilience throughout crisis,offered his continuous support for the youth connecting them with vocational training opportunities provided by the government, and also promised to be connected in the future.
