Project Name: Promote Quality Education in the Mainstream Government Primary Schools (PQE)

Project Introduction:
The project aims to ensure safe, equitable and quality primary education at 32 primary schools located in urban and sub-urban areas in Dhaka and Narayanganj districts in Bangladesh. Among 32 targeted project schools, 23 of the schools are the mainstream government primary schools whereas 9 of the schools are the community schools. In order to ensure safe, equitable and child-centered quality teaching learning process at targeted 32 government primary and community schools, the project contributes to increase children’ participation and performance on learning competencies through enhancing co-curricular, cultural, sports and school library initiatives. Under the project 4,800 children of the 32 intervened schools receive pedagogic materials to have the access to mainstream education and enhance their performance. The project facilitates learning CAMP on basic mathematics and language skills to boost up the basic learning competency, language and mathematics skills of the early graders in the 32 intervened schools. The project also capacitates the teachers of the intervened schools on ‘Child-centered Teaching-Learning Process’ through multiple trainings, workshops and refresher sessions. Moreover, the project carries out capacity building initiatives for the right holder (children) and the secondary duty bearer (teachers, parents and SMC) to create a safe and violence free learning environment at the intervened schools. The project orients the teachers, SMC members, parents and students on gender and value education that supports to create child friendly and inclusive environment.
