JOYFUL project has organized Progress Review &Closing Meeting at Haor areas of Itna and Mithamoin upazila in Kishoreganj as a part of quality education for 4440 out-of-school children and 1530 youth development. The meetings were organized to inform the Upazila administration, local people’s representatives and other stakeholders of the project about the development activities carried out by JOYFUL Project for a period of 3 years and 6 months as well as to keep the activities going. The meeting was held separately on 9 March 2021 at Mithamin Upazila Parishad auditorium and on 10 March 2021 at Itna Upazila Parishad auditorium. Mithamin Upazila Chairman Asiya Alam was present as the chief guest at the meeting held at Mithamin. Mithamin Upazila Vice Chairman Ibrahim Mia and Md. Shahidullah Primary Education Officer of Mithamin Upazila were present as a special guest. Mithamin Upazila Nirbahi Officer Prabhanshu Som Mahan presided over the meeting.
On the other hand, Itna Upazila Parishad Chairman Chowdhury Kamrul Islam was present as the chief guest held at Itna Upazila Parishad auditorium. Itna Upazila Vice Chairman Sakhawat Hossain and Itna Upazila Assistant Primary Education Officer Jamal Uddin were present as special guests. Itna Upazila Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nafisa Akter presided over the meeting.
At the beginning of the program, ABM Sahab Uddin, Project Manager of JOYFULProject, gave the welcome speech in the meetings after showing a documentary on Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah (R.) the founder of DAM. He said the project has worked to provide primary and lower secondary education to 4440 out-of-school children in Itna and Mithaminupazilas in non-formal system and to enhance the skills of 1530 youths. With the joint efforts of all, the project has left an impression of development in all the components. These activities will continue through the community after the project fund withdraw. Farhana Begum, training coordinator of the project, highlighted the progress of the project in Itna and Mithamin upazilas.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission’s Chief of Education and TVET sector, Md. Shahidul Islam was present as the special guest in the said two meeting and highlighted the strategic achievements and sustainability of the project. He said that in the last 6 months of the project, work has been done to phase forward the project activities. Training of teachers on pedagogy, develop management committees efficient in functioning the CLC, how the education management expenses will come, who will be in charge of which CLCs and CRCs, how to collect books from the education department, all have been made efficient. JOYFUL is a joint partnership project where activities have been completed successfully with the participation of all. We have developed the capacity of the partners through this project so that the support of the local people will continue even after the financing of the project. Today, everyone is being officially informed through this meeting. Mithamin Upazila Primary Education Officer. Shahidullah said the DAM has contributed to achieve education goals by enrolling out-of-school children.
The chief guest Mithamin Upazila Chairman Asiya Alam said in her speech that Ahsania Mission is working in our Haor area with the children who are out of school. I am providing all possible assistance to them from my upazila administration and it will continue.Prabhanshu Som Mahan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Mithamin Upazila, who presided over the meeting, said in his speech that work on Dhaka Ahsania Mission is visible in Haor area. We also witnessed their various activities during COVID-19. It is hoped that the involvement of the DAM in development activities will further increase.
On the other hand, Itna Upazila Chairman Chowdhury Kamrul Islam, who was the chief guest at the meeting held in Itna Upazila, said in his speech that we understood the development activities carried out by Ahsania Mission Itna area in the speeches of the Union Parishad chairmen. So, I thank them on behalf of the upazila administration. The upazila administration will extend all possible cooperation to them in this development activity.Nafisa Akhter, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Itna Upazila, who presided over the meeting, said in her speech that the boat schools and ferry boats have increased the attendance of students in Haor area to come to school and school in the boat of JOYFUL project. This project is playing an effective role in education and youth development.
On the occasion, Chairman of 6 union parishad, youth representatives of JOYFUL project, students, parents, tutors, CMC representatives and government primary school teacher representatives were present.
It should be mentioned that with the financial support of Reach Out to Asia (ROTA), JOYFULproject is being implemented in Itna and Mithamin upazilas of Kishoreganj district for a period of 3 years and 6 months from October 2018. The project will end on March 31, 2021, with donor funding, and local management and financing development activities.
