Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) has received first prize for its outstanding contribution in drug treatment and rehabilitation. The prize has been handed over today (28 June 2016) at a ceremony held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP was present as Chief Guest and handed over the prize to the Deputy Director and Head, Heath Sector of DAM Iqbal Masud.
Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) selected Dhaka Ahsania Mission for this prize considering the healthy environment of the treatment centers, specialist doctors, professional staffs, modern and evidence based treatment approach and other facilities for the clients. The prize includes a crest, certificate and Tk. 30,000.
Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee, Ministry of Home Affairs Tipu Munshi, MP and Senior Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan were present as Special Guests. Director General (DG) of DNC Khandaker Rakibur Rahman delivered the welcome address in the program.
It is mentionable that DAM has been implementing anti drug activities since 1990 and providing evidence based drug treatment service to drug users since 2004. At present, DAM is operating three drug treatment and rehabilitation centers in Gazipur and Jessore for male drug users and Dhaka for female drug users.
