01. Advocacy and Communication with Communities to Empower for accessing Social Services (ACCESS-CAFOD) + Details
ACCESS-CAFOD-II is a kind of project that has been implementing for establishing people’s rights through facilitating opportunities to participations, decision-making, and upholding the choice of the people. ACCESS-CAFOD-II is being implemented at Burirchar, Kewrabunia, Aylapatakata, Phuljhuri, Gourichanna, M. Baliatoli, Noltona unions of Barguna Sadar upazila and Amtoli, Chawra, Arpangashia, Gulishakhali of Amtoli upazila in Barguna district. Community capacity building and claiming entitlement by the people of the community and Creating access to quality education, health & nutrition and livelihood security for all the children and women are among the key activities of the project. The vulnerable, marginalized rural poor, with an emphasis on the destitute and distressed women, persons with disability, adolescent and the children of hardcore poor and extremely poverty stricken poor, land less, asset less and fishermen families who is the victim of denial of basic services were the target population of this project. 222 disabled children, 18,243 poor farmers and 57,432 women will be benefited by the project. The Ganokendra (a people’s organization) which is generally termed as community based organizations are acting as grass roots level development center as well as catalyst by linking the target group with Multipurpose Community Resource Centre (MCRC/CRC) at union level. This project is financially supported by CAFOD, UK. ACCESS was initiated in March 2011 and will continue till February 2014.

02. Advocacy and Communication with Communities to Empower for accessing Social Services (ACCESS-H&E) + Details
The Project “Advocacy and Communication with Communities to Empower for Accessing Social Services (ACCESS)” is one of the key ‘Human Rights and Social Justice’ projects of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM). The project is supported by CORDAID – The Netherlands. ACCESS-H&E is being implemented in 8 different upazillas of Jessore, Jhenaidah, Narshingdi and Jamalpur districts. The project operation has been started in January 2007 and will continue till December 2009. The major goal of the project is to create an enabling environment to increase access of vulnerable and marginalized groups, in particular, women and children, to quality public resources and services. The purpose of the project is to capacitate community as well as institutional service providers to improve and increase access to the services. Jessore sadar, Keshobpur & Chowgacha upazila of Jessore district, Mohespur & Jehnaidah sadar of Jhenaidah district, Narsingdi sador of Narshingdi distrit and Sarishabari & Dewangonj of Jamalpur district were the working area of this projectDestitute and hardcore poor women, vulnerable and marginalized rural poor, adolescent girls and children of the impoverished families were the main target beneficiaries of the project from where 45,400 Ganokendra members of 44 Unions will be directly benefited. On the other hand, as indirect beneficiaries, approximately 42,000 community people, government officials, UP representatives, corporate sector representatives and other NGOs are also involved.

03. Shelter Home + Details
Shelter Home is a temporary service delivery centre for the trafficked & other survivors and through the shelter home the survivors received comprehensive services that ensure their rights and help to mainstream them in the society. DAM has more than two decades of experience in implementing rights-based projects to safeguard the human rights of poor and vulnerable women and children primarily from the south-western zone of Bangladesh. DAM’s shelter home was established in 1998 has the capacity to accommodate 60 survivors and provides a wide range of services. Till then Shelter Home provided services to 761 survivors & amongst the 761 victims, 350 were trafficked survivors and 300 were the victim of domestic violence, 70 were the survivors of early marriage and 49 missing child etc. 413 were reintegrated in the families and 24 were integrated in job. The concept of shelter Home is explained in many ways. It is known that the victims of human trafficking suffer from a combination of psychological effects-feelings of abandonment, betrayal, anxiety and depression and anxiety along with detachment, post traumatic stress syndrome and other mental disorders. They experience excrement low self-esteem; feeling worthless, stuck and without hope. To break this cycle, they need a safe place to stay, coaching, mental health care. The DAM shelter home has been providing support with such intention

04. Bangladesh Action for Combating Trafficking –in-persons (ACT) Programme (BACTP) + Details
Bangladesh Action for combating Trafficking In Persons Programme (BACTP) was started in the year 2008 which is funded by USAID through their grantee partner Winrock International. The project will end in 2012 with a possibility of extention for another few years. Since inception a good number of traifficked survivors have been provided support. To be noted that the target group of the project is only the trafficked survivors. Survivors recieve a package of services under the project. Survivors are given supports including basic support ( safe accomodation, food , cloths) , need based health support, individual and group counseling, legal assistance, both formal and non formal education, vocational trainings, job placement, small business support and other supports needed for their mental healing and development. All surviors are provided support based on their integration planning. At the time of making such planning, survivors are actively involved. Under this project, an exit strategy planning documents are developed for successfully integrating them into the society. Also life skills module and counseling module are developed for this programme and those are being used by the counselors and life skill trainers. The goal of this project is to enhance & standarize protection and care for the survivors of human trafficking.

05. Health monitoring and advocacy on safe motherhood + Details
Health Monitoring and Advocacy on safe Motherhood project has been implementing for accessing the health services, health rights and good governance of health to the poor, hard core poor, marginalized and disadvantaged people in the community. This project has started operation in July 2010 at hatibhanga UP in Dewangong Upazilla under Jamalpur district. Every year the project gets extended for another one year on the basis of yearly performance. The project will be continued till June 2013. It is under human right and social justice sector of DAM. The main objective of this project is to improve governance of health and family planning regarding safe motherhood by health monitoring on the local (Union) level and advocacy on the local and national level.

The major interventions of the project are:
  • To developing monitoring tools for the UPHSC
  • Training of UP standing committee on monitoring tools
  • Training of CBO’s members and other members of civil society platforms about health service provision for safe motherhood and community mobilization
  • Formation & Orientation of CBO’s or civil society platforms on monitoring system
  • Workshop on monitoring tools with Health and Family Planning officials
  • Support UPHSC to organise workshop for private providers
  • Facilitate UPSC to arrange Quarterly consultation meetings with HFP officials for sharing monitoring findings
  • Facilitate CBOs to organise half yearly Union-public hearings with health service providers

06. Enhancing Community capacity to reduce vulnerability to human trafficking in the Jamalpur district of Bangladesh + Details
Enhancing Community Capacity to Reduce Vulnerability to Human Trafficking in the Jamalpur District of Bangladesh (CCRVT) project is being implemented with the objective of enhancing the capacity of the local community in the Jamalpur District of Bangladesh to protect its most vulnerable members and provide victims of trafficking with adequate services and support. 27 unions under three upazilas selected for the project such as Bakshiganj, Melandaha, and Dewanganj of Jamalpur district. One of the poorest districts in Bangladesh, Jamalpur is a primary source for internal trafficking for sexual exploitation and forced labor. A large percentage of its population migrates seasonally to urban areas in search of employment and is, as a result, vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. This project aims to raise awareness of migrant rights under the law, the risks and warning signs of exploitation, where victims can turn within their communities for support, what alternatives may exist closer to home for skills training and employment and the services and protection available through the local NGO community. The project additionally aims to provide rehabilitation services and livelihoods support to rescued victims. The project activities include development and capacity building of anti-trafficking community committees, identification and monitoring of individuals and at-risk groups, creation of a support network for at-risk groups, sensitization of the media to human trafficking, capacity building of youth to address human trafficking and Provision of rehabilitation services for rescued victims.

07. Promotion of Human Rights for Preventing Violence and Discrimination against Women and Girls (PPVD) + Details
Promotion of Human Rights for Preventing Violence and Discrimination against Women and Girls (PPVD) Project has emerged as an engaging project for promotion of human rights, both at grassroots and national level. The project deals with problems, generally encountered by women and girls. Dhaka Ahsania Mission has been implementing the project with technical assistance of Concern Universal and financial support of the European Union. The objective of the project is to prevent all forms of discriminations and violence against vulnerable groups, particularly women and girls, by promoting human rights in certain areas of Bangladesh. The project will be implemented in Barguna Sadar and Patharghata upazilas of Barguna district in Bangladesh. Targeted groups include poor and vulnerable families of rural communities, with special focus on women and girls including people with disabilities (PwD) and minorities, who live at high risk due to their social condition and geographical and coastal location, and frequently become victims of discrimination and violence.
