Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) celebrated the silver jubilee of its monthly publication ‘Alap’ at its head office in the capital’s Dhanmondi area on 22 December 2016.
Poet Asad Choudhury was present at the programme as the chief guest. On the occasion, a discussion meeting was held at the same venue.
Speakers said ‘Alap’ is playing vital role in promoting reading habit among neo-literate and semi-literate adults.It also help building a peaceful society and contributing to the enrichment of folk culture, they observed.
They suggested reviews, rethink and relocation of its publication through thematic approach in order to make it sustainable.Terming ‘Alap’ an reader-oriented publication, they opined that subjects and write-up of the publication are formatted considering the demand, level of education and socio-cultural background of the readers.
DAM president Kazi Rafiqul Alam, also editor of ‘Alap’, presided over the discussion Save the Children official M Habibur Rahman, BANBEIS former director Shafiul Alam and DAM official Shanewaj Khan, among others, were also present.DAM executive director Dr M Ehsanur Rahman delivered the welcome address while TMD assistant director Mohammad Mohsin presented the key-note paper.
Mentionable, the DAM has been publishing the monthly publication ‘Alap’ since 1991.
