Project Introduction:

Community managed Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for Health project will cover 4 Union Parishads (equivalent to parish councils) and their communities to develop a community-managed programme that aims to achieve 100% sanitation in each Union by the end of the project period and provision of a safe water supply within 1 kilometre of every home. The project is being underpinned by a hygiene education project to transform attitudes and habits, and a capacity-building programme to ensure that new practices and services will be maintained and sustained.

Project Agreement Number:

Overall Objective: To improve the health and dignity of approximately 22,000 people in Kaliganj and Shyamnagar Upazila, rural Southwest Bangladesh, through the provision of sanitation and hygiene promotion services and context specific water supplies with support from local government and other stakeholders.

Specific Objectives: To increase sanitation coverage at project areas in 4 Union Parishads through empowerment and participation of multiple stakeholders.
