Babylon Group has donated an amount of Tk 25 Lac to Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital (AMCH) fund for building a 500-bed world standard specialised cancer hospital at Uttara in the capital.
Babylon Group Managing Director Abdus Salam handed over the cheque as the second installment of the total commitment of Tk 70 Lac to Kazi Rafiqul Alam, President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), at a simple ceremony held at DAM head office in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, on 1 November 2013.
Besides, Chairman of the Group Emdadul Islam, Director Neesar Ahmed, Abidur Rahman, Moinul Ahsan and Resource Mobilization Coordinator of DAM Abdul Hye were also present during the cheque handing over ceremony. An Operation Theatre (OT) will be named after Babylon Group in the hospital in context of this donation.
While handing over the cheque, Babylon Group Managing Director Abdus Salam said, in Bangladesh, facility for cancer treatment is very limited. Most of the cancer patients have to go abroad for treatment. If the hospital is commissioned then modern facilities for cancer treatment will be available in Bangladesh. He called upon the well-to-do section of society as well as corporate sectors to come forward for constructing the hospital.
While receiving the cheque, DAM President Kazi Rafiqul Alam said, if the corporate sector comes forward, Inshallah, we shall be able to start the primary activities of the hospital by opening the Radio Therapy unit, Out-patient Department and laboratory. He urged people from all walks of life to construct the full-fledged hospital.
