‘Adolescent & Youth Club (AYC)’ Formation under the AYD Project of Education Sector

An Adolescent & Youth Club (AYC) titled ‘Jagannathpur Adolescent & Youth Club’ has been formed with the community level adolescents and youths of the KalachandpurGovernment Primary School of Gulshan area under the ‘AYD Project’ of the Education Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM). On June 06, 2021, with the financial and technical assistance of the donor organization Educo Bangladesh, 50 community level adolescents and youths participated atthe Club Formation Workshop following necessary health safety measures.

Mr. Md. Shanawaz, Program Coordinator (PQE & AYD), Education Sector addressed the ‘AYC Formation Workshop’ while MS. Saima AkterDipty, Teachical Officer of the AYD Project, Education Sector was responsible for the overall coordination of the workshop. Discussion on what & why of adolescent-youth club, the necessity of having the adolescent-youth club, goals and aim of the club, roles & responsibilities of the club members, annual workplan and how the club members can actively involve in the community level social activities etc. were some of the major discussion points in the workshop. Moreover, a 13-member Executive Committee (EC) of the club was formed in the workshop who also formally took the oath at the event. Afterwards, a Club Constitution was handover to the elected Club President.

It’s worthwhile to mention that under the AYD Project of Education Sector of the Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), 20 such ‘Adolescent & Youth Club (AYC)’ will be formed in various communities of Dhaka and Narangonj districtswhile mobilizing multiple youth groups, providing them necessary skill building training and motivating them to participate in the social development activities.
